DENETRIA GIBSON
Who is she?
DeNetria Gibson is living proof that comedy thrives both onstage and in real life. Born and raised in Detroit, she’s a fashion-forward actress with a bright smile, a fun spirit, and the kind of energy that can lift a whole room before she even speaks. Her love for performance began in elementary school, when she stepped onto the stage for a Black History Month play and performed Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou. As an actor, DeNetria brings depth, passion, and emotional honesty to every character she inhabits, always committed to telling stories that celebrate the real lives, joys, and complexities of people of color. When she is not breathing life into a script, you will probably catch her dancing in styles such as hip hop, African, Latin, and jazz, all styles that allowed her to stumble upon Kpop, in which she and Ximena Perez founded their own dance team, Infinity. Her favorite credits include “Nya” in Pipeline by Dominique Morisseau, and “Ember” in The Golden Loc by Prentiss Matthews. She has also directed Witch by Jen Silverman, marking her directorial debut. And if you ever lose her onstage, look for the crazy eyes!
